Frequently Asked Questions
Product & Features
+ What is SHYFT FlexView and how does it work?
The SHYFT FlexView app connects to a home energy meter installed at your home or business by your facility manager. The app securely connects to your meter via SHYFT’s cloud and then reports near real-time and historical energy use so that you can easily and transparently monitor your power bill from anywhere at any time. Based on the billing settings established by your facility manager, you’ll be able to make payments securely via the app.
+ How often does the app information update?
Your meter data updates every 1-2 hours. Occasionally, there may be delays in when the meter data updates but updates with complete data. In-app payments, however, are updated within minutes.
+ Who should I speak to if I have any issues?
If you have any issues with your FlexView profile or meters, contact your power manager whose contact information is provided in the app as well. SHYFT Power Solutions provides software but is not active in managing your property or managing power services at your property.
+ How do I add other users to my meter?
You can add users by navigating to the Menu > Users. From here you can provide the name and email address of the user you would like to add to a particular meter. When you add a user, that user will now be able to view energy usage, meter balance, make payments, and will receive notifications.
+ How do you keep my data secure?
At SHYFT, we take security very seriously and we take extensive measures to ensure your data is secure. All communications between SHYFT devices, the SHYFT cloud servers, and SHYFT apps are fully encrypted with TLS/SSL (HTTPS). Meters & Energy Data
+ I don’t have power. Is my meter disconnected?
Your meter may be disconnected from my power. Your power manager configures settings that may impact when and how your meter is disconnected from power. Your meter may be disconnected for the following reasons:
- Your meter account is outstanding. This means, you have a past due balances and may need to make payment of past due balances in full to reconnect your meter.
- Your power manager has disconnected the meter for alternative reasons.
- There is an issue with your meter account.
Contact your power manager (information provided on the main dashboard) to for further questions.
+ Why is my meter offline?
The FlexView app updates about every 1-2 hours, but occasionally may go offline. During that time, your energy data is not lost but awaiting a connection with the SHYFT Cloud. The meter continues to read energy consumption and this data is stored. You do not need to do anything during this time as your power manager will be alerted in case they need to take action.
+ How accurate is my meter?
SHYFT FlexView connects to meters with accuracy that meets international MID (EN 50470-1,3) and IEC (IEC 62052-11, IEC 62053-21,23) standards of Class B and Class 1 respectively, for max 1% error under all operating conditions. The data can be backed up for greater than 10 years without power supply, and very low power consumption for metering (~0.1 W) The meters are international safety tested to withstand short circuits greater than 4000A. They are IP54 construction suitable for meters to be installed indoors or outdoors.
Payments & Billing
+ How do I make a payment to my meter?
Payments can be made via the FlexView app in the Payments tab. SHYFT integrates with Paystack to securely accepts payments that directed to your Facility Manager.
+ What does balance mean?
The balance represents how much you owe the Facility Manager for energy used and any fees applied, based on the tariff rate and billing structure. As you use energy, the balance will increase. When payments are made, this will reduce the balance accordingly.
+ Why is my balance negative?
When a balance is negative, that means you have a credit towards your meter account. This happens when you’ve made a payment that exceeds what you owe. As you use energy or are charged fees thereafter, that credit will apply until you reach a 0 balance and then you will begin to owe the Facility Manager for energy used.
+ What does outstanding mean?
Your meter account becomes outstanding when you have a past due balance. This means that you have not made full payment for an amount due by the due date. Your meter account will remain outstanding until that past due balance is paid in full.
+ What is my spend, and how is it different from my balance?
Your spend is how much you are using in Naira credits. For example, you may spend N2,000 in a given day based on the energy that you have used. This N2,000 is your spend for that day. Your spend is different from your balance in that your spend is looking at a specific period of time and may not take into account past due balances.
+ How do I get notified when I have a new bill due?
You will receive an email and a push notification (alert) in the FlexView app when your power bill is due. Via the app, you will be able to view the details of your power bill including a breakdown of charges and the due date.
+ How do I know the tariff structure for billing?
Your tariff structure is set by your power manager. In the FlexView app on the main dashboard, you can see the current rate per kWh you are paying. For further details, including other fees are charges that may be included, you can contact them to confirm your tariff and billing structure.
